Join us for an intimate wine and cheese reception for the Artist. Danny will talk about his creative process in his current work.  He will share his thoughts on where he finds inspiration and his artistic point of view.  The artist's pottery will be for sale during the reception.

These two days will be hands on learning wheel techniques that Danny uses in his studio practice.  You will also see him complete one of his large pieces built in sections.

Our max for this day is 14 hands on participants.

About the Artist
I was born in Topeka, Kansas and grew up not far from Kansas City in the small town of Gardner. It is there that I began my work as a potter. A scheduling conflict in high school landed me in a ceramics class where a knack for form, a belief I could do anything, and a willingness to fail repeatedly were all I needed to excel with clay. Several years after graduating high school in 1984, I came to a point where I had no idea what to do with my future; I decided to take a ceramics class at the local community college. I then went to the University of Kansas to study ceramics. Those first years were tough, but in those tough years I found my greatest teachers: the clay itself and the process. The relentless honesty of the clay always and still placidly demands no less than the absolute, while the process whispers in my ear “Slow down and you will get more accomplished”. I have been making pots professionally for over twenty years. My focus is now more on the sculptural vessel and I am exhibiting in galleries and teaching workshops.

How to sign up?

We will be offering spots to current studio members on Sunday, February 12th at 1pm.  Non studio members, will be invited to begin signing up on the same day at 5pm.  Due to the first day being demonstration only we will have more spaces available for that day than the three day option.  The sign up link will be posted at the bottom of this page once we go live with workshop signups.

What is needed?

If you are participating in the demo only day, you will just need a notebook and pen.  Lunch will not be provided, but we will break for lunch and have several lunch spots near the studio.  If you would prefer not to eat out, you may bring a lunch with you.  There will be plenty of space to sit and enjoy your lunch.

If you are participating in hands on learning, you are welcome to use our studio reclaim clay at no additional cost.  If you wish to use a different clay, you may purchase it at the studio on the day of the workshop.  We will have all our studio clays available for purchase.  The techniques you will learn in this workshop will translate well to a cone six or low fire environment as it is wheel focused. You will also, need to plan on bringing any throwing tools you typcially use at the wheel.
